Breakfast Suggestions

Stewed apples, pears, and/or dates, stirred into hot cereal

Cook with some warming spices. Warming spices are allspice, fresh ginger, nutmeg, rock salt, rosemary, and turmeric. Then add yoghurt (not with milk solids), to your oatmeal, rice pudding, or cream of rice.


Apple sauce/stew

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 cup of apple (cooked)
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger (Dried)
  • 1 tbsp Raw Sugar

Method:
Peel, core, and thinly slice apples. Combine apples in a saucepan with 1/3c water and simmer until the apples are tender, stirring frequently. Add in raw sugar. Mix and bring ghee, ginger, and applesauce to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Serve warm.


Grapefruit with honey and ginger

Ingredients:

  • 2 pinch Cardamom (optional)
  • 2 pinch Ginger (Dried)
  • 1 c Grapefruit
  • 1 tsp Honey

Method:
Peel grapefruit. Slice in flat circles. Mix ginger and cardamom with honey into a spicy paste. Drizzle over the sliced grapefruit. Cardamom is optional.


Oatmeal with maple syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 pinch Cardamom (optional)
  • 2 pinch Cloves
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 2 tsp Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 c Oats / Oatmeal
  • 1 c Water

Method:
Boil water. Add all the other ingredients and continue boiling on low heat until the oats are soft.


Oat Flour Waffles with Almond Milk & Ghee

Ingredients:

  • 1 c Almond Milk
  • 1/4 c Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1 c Oat Flour
  • 1/4 c Oats / Oatmeal
  • 1/2 tsp Salt (Mineral Salt)

Method:
In a small bowl, combine all ingredients except almonds and maple syrup. Whisk to form a batter. Ladle batter into your waffle maker and follow instructions. In a dry pan, toast chopped almonds for 2 minutes, until they begin to release their aroma and turn golden brown. Serve waffles with ghee, topped with toasted almonds and maple syrup.


Oat Bran Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups oat bran (or 4 cups rolled oats)
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • ½ cup dried figs or ½ cup apple sauce
    ½ cup raisins
  • ¼ cup ghee
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup sunflower seeds (optional)

Method:
Blend rolled oats if you are using them. Mix with salt, baking powder, spices and sunflower seeds. In a small saucepan bring milk slowly to boil, then pour it and all wet ingredients except raisins into the blender. Pour liquid into dry ingredients. Stir in raisins if using. Bake for 20 to 25 mins
