Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana)

Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana)

A very simple practice used to calm the body & mind and reduce stress.
Sit comfortably either cross-legged or sitting in a chair.

  1. Close the right nostril with your right thumb, inhale through the left nostril. Inhale into the belly, relax your shoulders and your jaw.
  2. After inhaling, hold your breath just for a moment then exhale through your right nostril while closing the left nostril with the ring and little fingers of your right hand.
  3. Now start inhaling through the right nostril (while you close the left nostril with your ring and little finger). Then exhale through your left nostril, closing your right nostril with your right thumb.
  • Repeat 1-3.

You can do this exercise for 5-10 minutes.
